by Renae Virata | So if you hadn’t read my previous post, I am on a “shopping my closet” kick! I realize that there are outfits just WAITING to be made that I have yet to discover. No more staring at my closet with “nothing to wear”! I just wore this summer semi-formal to a boho-chic bar on a VERY chilly and VERY windy night with some great success. See how I breathed new three-season, three-occasion life into this old-wedding-dress oldie but goodie!
So, this French Connection dress has been a wedding staple for me since 2007. I bought it while shopping in NOLA and couldn’t resist the fabulous color combo and watercolor print (thank goodness prints are making a furious comeback!). But after about three or four (okay, maybe five) weddings, I was finally ready to push it to the back of my closet, never to be seen again. Until yesterday. As I had done with my previous dress, I decided a little layering was in order and discovered a chic, boho-ish look. Now, I have three outfits in one, ready to go whenever. Check ‘em out below!
Here’s the dress with my favorite black boots. Simple, but already a different look without the gold or silver heels I normally wear with them.
Outfit 2: I added a simple sheer, big-striped tee over it to add some dimension and to create a cooler-weather look. Now the dress is a funky boho skirt!
Outfit 3: And the final touch for a cold-weather look – a wool bomber jacket! Four completely different key pieces rolled into one fabulous outfit! PS – Tights are a good idea. Get creative!
